INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Thank you for choosing a Rivus watch. Each model is the result of the careful work of our watchmaker. This manual will help you care for your watch properly so that it will serve you reliably for many years.

Model: Rivus Minimalist, Essence

Automatic watch (3 hands, 1 crown), Movement Sellita SW200

Crown operation: one position pushed in (normal) + pulled out for time setting.

1. Basic information

This watch is equipped with an automatic movement, which means it winds itself with the movement of your wrist when worn. If you do not wear the watch for a long period of time, winding it manually with the crown will ensure that it starts up again.

2. Winding

The watch winds automatically during normal wear—the movement of your hand throughout the day provides energy to the movement. If the watch is not worn for an extended period of time (e.g., more than approximately 24–40 hours, depending on the movement's power reserve), we recommend winding it manually:

  • Make sure that the crown is in the basic position (pushed in).
  • Turn the crown (clockwise) approximately 20‑30 turns until you feel slight resistance.

Note: Automatic watches have a mechanism that prevents the spring from being overloaded, so manually winding the watch "to the top" cannot damage the movement.

If you wear your watch for at least 8 hours a day, the automatic winding mechanism will usually be sufficient to keep it running. If you do not wear your watch for a long period of time, we recommend winding it manually and putting it on as soon as possible after setting the time.

3. Setting the time

Pull the crown out to the first (and only) adjustment position – the watch will stop (if it has a "hacking" function – stopping the second hand when setting). Turn the crown until the hours and minutes show the correct time. After setting, push the crown back to its original position so that the watch is once again sealed against moisture and can function properly.

4. Instructions for wearing and maintenance

Avoid wearing the watch during strong vibrations or high-impact sports, as these may affect the accuracy of the movement or damage the watch.

Adjust the size of the strap to ensure that the buckle is in the correct position so that the watch fits securely on your wrist and is not damaged if it falls off. Check regularly that the buckle is close

Odchylky od standardního chodu hodinek z důvodu magnetizace nelze uznat jako důvod k reklamaci hodinek.

If the model is waterproof, it is recommended to check the waterproofing every 2 years.

Regular maintenance:

Clean the case and glass with a soft cloth without using chemicals or materials that could scratch the case/glass. 

When not wearing the watch, store it in a dust-free, dry environment.

Protect leather straps from water, sweat, or other liquids. 

5. Servis

Doporučujeme provádět servis (čištění, výměna maziva, kontrola těsnění) každých 3–5 let, podle intenzity používání. Pokud zaznamenáte výraznější nepřesnost, zastavování hodinek nebo potíže s natáčením či korunkou, kontaktujte autorizovaný servis.

6. Upozornění

  • Winding the watch while it is being worn (on the wrist) is not recommended, as this may cause the crown stem to twist or other mechanical stress.
  • Watches should not be exposed to extreme temperature shocks (e.g., hot shower + cold pool) – this can affect the water resistance and functionality of the movement.
  • The crown must be secured (pushed in) during normal wear – otherwise there is a risk of moisture or dust entering and causing damage.
  • When setting the time, avoid turning the hour hand backwards – it is recommended to move it forwards.
  • The leather belt is made of genuine leather. This natural material may change color and texture over time – acquiring a natural patina is a normal and desirable phenomenon, not a reason for complaint.
  • Do not wear watches with leather straps in swimming pools, showers, saunas, or other environments where the strap may become completely wet. Moisture can permanently affect the appearance and durability of the leather.
  • Rivus models are designed as elegant watches, not sports watches. Therefore, they are not intended for use in water. It is not recommended to wear them while showering, swimming, or during any other contact with water.

a) normal wear and tear of the watch caused by its normal use;
 b) wear and tear of mechanical parts of the watch (especially the strap, clasp, glass, crown, surface finishes, electroplating, or PVD coating) caused by normal wear and tear;
 c) discharge or shortening of battery life in quartz models;
 d) damage to goods caused by improper handling, unauthorized servicing, or modifications made by the buyer or a third party;
 e) damage caused by falling, impact, exposure to extreme temperatures, magnetic fields, moisture, or chemicals;
 f) water ingress into the watch contrary to the declared water resistance or manufacturer's recommendations (e.g., exposure to pressure beyond the WR xx m rating);
 g) damage caused by failure to follow the instructions for use or general maintenance principles;
 h) defects caused by improper or negligent handling, unprofessional storage or cleaning;
 i) minor visual deviations or irregularities resulting from manual production or the natural properties of the material, which do not affect the functionality of the product;
 j) defects caused by force majeure (e.g., natural disasters, fire, falling objects).
